Weathering by Claudia Borfiga

This poem was written by Claudia Borfiga and screen printed as a take away for the Weathering exhibition and studio sale. Weathering is a celebration of Claudia’s time in the United States. After just under eight years in the states, Claudia will be moving back to her home in the UK.

I have been Weathered.

The Sun has stolen the moisture from my skin, leaving it ever-parched and thirsty.

My stiff upper lip has eroded; dissolved and crumbled, now sculpted into something softer, tangible with emotion.

The Wind has filled my eyes with grit, raking their soft surface, creating crevices, withering them.

The buoyancy of newness is somewhat diminished. A little work by the weight of knowing, and lessons that cannot be unlearnt.

This Weathering has aged body and mind, leaving me better off, covered with moss, ready to absorb and share.
